Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)

DBT is a therapeutic modality, developed by Dr Marsha Linehan. It has been developed to address the specific needs identified for people diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, as classic CBT was not an as effective treatment for this clinical presentation.

In time, DBT became a modality used beyond the specifics of the borderline personality presentation, and it entails a structured approach, aimed at developing skills around four big domains: emotion regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness and mindfulness.

All four domains have respective skills that are learnt and practiced during therapy sessions and in-between the therapy sessions.
